Fees

Disputes arising from separation and divorce often create financial stress. As a not-for-profit organisation, our priority is to keep charges as reasonable and competitive as possible.

We offer a simple and transparent fee structure with no hidden costs or additional VAT. You pay a fixed fee for each meeting you attend and all paperwork produced for you by the mediator is costed into the meeting fee.

Please see more details here.

Do you qualify for free mediation?

There are currently two sources of public funding available for family mediation.

Firstly, Berkshire Family Mediation holds a Legal Aid contract, which means that we can assess for Legal Aid funding. Legal Aid can cover the cost of all mediation meetings for eligible participants. It is means-tested, so please ask when you book your Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM), so that we can conduct an assessment as early as possible in the process for you.

If you don't qualify for Legal Aid but your ex does, you may still get a free MIAM and a free first joint meeting if mediation proceeds.

Secondly, all our mediators are signed up to the Family Mediation Voucher scheme funded by the Ministry of Justice and administered by the Family Mediation Council.

This scheme is available to everyone regardless of their means and it funds joint meetings to do with children issues. It is worth £500. Your mediator can give you further details about how to apply for a voucher when you attend your MIAM.
